Our alternative to Storage Heaters

Here at Happy Heat we have replaced a large quantity of storage heaters with Sunflow electric radiators. In addition to Scotland we are proud to offer this service in London, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire, Peterborough, Birmingham and Hull.

Those with bulky, dated and inflexible storage heaters make up a large portion of our customers.  This is expected to change over the next few years, with the government pushing us away from fossil fuels to reduce CO2 emissions - the switch from oil and gas to electric will be inevitable.  Most energy suppliers now offer electricity from renewable sources, meaning that a zero-carbon heating systems are becoming more and more accessible.

But why do our customers choose Sunflow radiators?

1) Heat that lasts

Typically, storage heaters or warm air units run on economy tariffs with higher day rates and lower night rates, which means they need to be charged through the night.  Caution is needed however, as it can be easy for the increased day rate to negate any money saved by the cheaper night rate.  Depending on what heater you have, the heat may not last as long as you want it to; on colder days the storage heaters store of heat can become depleted by the evening, meaning you need to use a more on demand and less efficient alternative. With our Sunflow radiators you can have that best of both worlds, with exceptional efficiency and control in the same package.

2) Flexibility

The idea of Storage Heaters means you store electricity as heat the night before you need it, meaning you don’t know for sure what your heating needs for the next day are going to be. This can become a problem with the temperamental weather we get in the UK. Economy 7 or 10 may seem like a good idea to start with but when you are charging the storage heaters and then not using the heat - it can be very inefficient and wasteful. This system can lead to wasted energy, or worse yet, if you underestimate you needs - leave you in the cold.

3) Controllability

Most storage heaters we see are using old technology with just one dial to monitor how much heat you want it to store and one dial to regulate the heat output, usually using wildly inaccurate mechanical systems.

Compare that to electric radiators we supply and install, such as the Sunflow Classic, which you can turn on and off as needed with either the thermostat, programmer or application. Alternatively you can just set it and forget it - allow the smart power down technology to work it’s magic. It’s internal PCB will maintain both efficiency and your perfect temperature, accurate to within 0.5 degrees Celsius.

4) Design

Storage heaters can be bulky and unsightly. Thankfully that’s not the case with our radiators though, with a range of sleek designs and colours, you’ll be able to find the ideal one for your space. Please take a look at some of the styles available here.

If you are interested in upgrading from your storage heaters, we have local trusted installers throughout Scotland who would be more than happy to come out for a free survey and demonstration. Why not get in touch for a chat?
